My car adventure began about 2008 when a friend said… “I’ve got a little car that I’d like to sell”. That car turned out to be a Triumph Spitfire roadster. All i knew about that car was what someone said to me back in 1964: “They roll over when you corner hard because of the independent rear suspension”. You’d think that memory would have scared me off, since that’s all I knew about them. But it didn’t so I bought the car and drove it home.
The car was well kept by a local woman who undersood car maintenance. She had stored the car indoors during all of her ownership. The car was rust free and the paint was in great shape. After I bought the car I did just a few changed to the car that included minor touch up of the paint, and buffing/waxing it. I had the wheels powder coated and did standard care. The car really didn’t need much attention to be driven.
I learned a lot about Lucus electrics and British engineering (sic). It was fun to drive and fun to ‘tinker’ with. Moss Motors was a simple resource for any part (and machanical photos) that was needed and the car was simple to work on.
Additional photos are available in the Triumph Gallery.
So, I Sold It for a new project… A 1969 Lotus Europa.
